The Maratha – are Indian people found predominantly in the state of Maharashtra and are famous for their warriors, found predominantly in the state of Maharashtra.

Harshitaa Chatterjee Deshpande’s collection is inspired by the Maratha warrior princess. The concept for the collection is to revisit and celebrate the rich heritage of the traditions of woven art.

Varnanggall

VarnanggallVarnanggall – ‘Colours’ in Tamil. Lavanyaa K R is the name behind this South Indian traditional wear label. She works with the unsung rural heroes of Kalamkari, Lambani, Ilkal and the weavers from most part of Southern India – Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, making the products unique and hand made. Looking through the collection, you will notice the devotion to the art and pure love for the craft.

Kaam-Kaaj

kI would like to have all the above in my closet, and I WILL find an occasion to wear them to. This is Karishma Shahani’s Spring Summer 2014 collection. The Kaam Kaaj collection shows a unique form of block printing technique known as the Ajrak. The Ajrak technique uses natural dyes, which Karishma Shahani shows throughout the collection.

Fabrics & Ropes.

lxpLalesso and Pichulik did a collaboration and did not inform me! Oh well, found out a little late about this. The South African designers make for a perfect collaboration don’t you think? With Lalesso‘s stunning fabrics and the magic ropes of Pichulik, very fresh and original.
